eBay alternatives, an interesting comparison.

Will you have tea or coffee? I'll have tea…with milk or without milk? With milk…you will prefer cow's milk or sheep milk or goat's milk or? I'll prefer cow's milk…white sugar or brown sugar or sugar-free? @#$1…by this time you are totally confused and the very next moment waiter says sir will you have Darjeeling teas or Assam tea or….? Well if you thought that this is the most taxing situation, then you are simply standing in the wrong boot. There are much more taxing and confusing situation as compared to the one highlighted above. Selecting a web-store platform/site where you will be opening your gateway to earn oodles of cash is nothing short of a mysterious chemistry.

Currently, there are as many as ten frontline/highly famous options available to host your e-commerce store. However, the actual figure runs into hundreds. Each store is unique in its own terms. Each store provides a unique large portfolio of services (a certain set of services not provided by others), choosing the best of all, is definitely a great ordeal. However, we regret that we are unable to solve your tea problem but for sure we will address the ordeal/confusion of selecting an ideal web-store platform.

To help you out in selecting an ideal web-store platform, we have compared different popular stores like eBay, uBid, Zilo, Bidville and eCrater across different parameter. The exercise/comparison for sure will help you in selecting the perfect platform for your e-commerce dreams.

Product information.
On eBay and Zilo there is no requirement for sellers to give adequate information so the quality of the information you receive is highly dependent on the seller. With uBid, eCrater and Bidville there is a lot of information given on each product. However, at times lot of information becomes technical in nature. eCrater in fact gives a very extensive product description.

Product Availability
eBay has almost everything the customers are looking for, because they are so popular, they have well over four thousand categories and millions of items. uBid does not have as much for sale in comparison with eBay. With their auctions you bid on what's available. If you are seeking a specific item then uBid will not be the first option. uBid have good number of product categories, but not many items in each category. Bidville has over half a million members and is gaining popularity. They have a wide variety of product categories but far less than eBay and uBid. Moreover, product listing in a particular category is also less as compared to eBay & uBid. eCrater is similar to uBid and Bidville, with a good number of categories and listings under each category. However, it is difficult to find a certain specific product at eCrater. Zilo allows you to set up a Zilo shop so you can display your products. Limited categories are on offering. You will find a good number of items on sale under every category.

Order Processing
uBid processes order payment, shipment, placement and returns for its auctions because they also act as seller for most of their auctions. They have back-up supplies for some products. eBay, Zilo, eCrater and Bidville on the other hand take no responsibility for shipping, payment, or returns, the responsibility falls on the seller.

Customer service
eBay's leaves much of the customer service to the sellers. There is twenty-four hour support offered and also limited insurance on items sold. You are also able to contact eBay by email and by phone. An extended warranty offered by uBid seem to get you better customer service, it's difficult to return products if you don't have one. There is a toll free number available. eCrater and Bidville both have a contact form on their site. There is neither phone number nor email contact option. Zilo shows an email address for the site, but you can contact sellers when you have bought an item.
